‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung of South Korea reacts after his victory over Dan Ige in a featherweight bout during the UFC Fight Night event at UFC APEX on June 19, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. | Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLCThe real winners and losers from UFC Vegas 29 Dan Ige had an opportunity to make a massive leap up the UFC featherweight depth chart on Saturday when he faced Chan Sung Jung in the main event of the UFC Vegas 29 fight card. Ige had his moments during the five-round scrap, but he fell short in his bid to put his name among the 145-pound elite. Jung walked away with a unanimous decision win. The win was a bounce back performance for Jung. Brian Ortega handed it to Jung in his last outing. That performance, which saw Ortega double up Jung in significant strikes left questions about Jung’s feasibility as a top-ranked featherweight. The former featherweight title challenger answered those questions in securing the win and showing that he’s not ready or willi

Pedro Tabares stomps on Saul Farah’s head during their boxing match in Bolivia. | Tim Boxeo / TwitterA boxing bout in Bolivia ends in chaos when a boxer delivers ground and pound and stomps to a downed opponent. Bolivian boxing icon Saul Farah defended his Bridgerweight title versus Pedro Tabares last night, winning the fight by DQ after one of the wildest endings you could ever see in a boxing ring. Farah (73-26-3) was likely losing his 103rd professional fight versus on the scorecards when he was dropped in the sixth round. As soon as Farah hit the canvas Tabares swarmed him, delivering ground and pound and, after the referee tried to pull him away, a series of stomps. At least one of the stomps landed flush on Farah’s head. You can see all that havoc below in video provided by Tim Boxeo on Twitter. MAYHEM IN BOLIVIA! Saul Farah (73-26-3) likely behind on the cards is dropped by debutant Pedro Tabares in the 6th. Tabres then stomps on Farah with both hands & feet while th

The Future Is Bright For Old Man Silva

Photo by Mike Roach/Zuffa LLC via Getty ImagesIn a fairly shocking result, Anderson Silva outworked Julio Cesar Chavez Jr over eight rounds, opening up all sorts of opportunities. Let’s get this out of the way immediately: HOLY SH*T, THE MMA GUY WON! Unlike most of the recent celebrity/MMA/boxing events, “Tribute To The Kings” was not a disaster. It featured some genuinely great boxing, and the high-profile match ups that were not between top-notch boxers ... actually made sense. Anderson Silva is an older former champion in the cage, so they matched him with a smaller former champion of the ring. Still, there were more reasons to be apprehensive than optimistic about Silva’s chances. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. may be a smaller man with a reputation for poor decision-making, but that does not entirely remove his natural talent or elite boxing experience. Plus, Silva fans have suffered quite a bit in recent years. If we’re being honest about the scoring in his bout with Derek Br

Biggest Winners, Loser For UFC Vegas 29

Source: MMA Mania
Date: 2021-06-20

Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLCUFC Vegas 29 went down last night (Sat., June 19 2021) inside UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, which saw Chan Sung Jung dominate Dan Ige for five rounds (see it again here) in the main event of the evening. In the co-main event, Serghei Spivak defeated Aleksei Oleinik after 15 minutes of Heavyweight action. Biggest Winner: Chan Sung Jung “The Korean Zombie” put one of the best and most dominant performance of his career against Ige, showing off pretty much every aspect of his well-rounded arsenal. Ige did have a few bright moments, but it was all Jung, who showed great patience when it was needed and pounced when the opportunity presented itself. The win puts him back in the win column after losing to Brian Ortega in his last bout, which nearly prompted him to retire from the fight game. Instead, he is now in the thick of the Featherweight championship picture, especially with Max Holloway having to bow out of his bout against Yair Rodriguez. Runner U

Video: ‘The Monster’ once again shows disdain for another man’s liver

Naoya Inoue hits hard. | Photo by Steve Marcus/Getty ImagesThese body shot knockdowns will have you writhing in pain too. You would be hard pressed to find a more exciting and more destructive high-level boxer in the world right now than Naoya ‘The Monster’ Inoue (21-0, 18 KOs). The WBA and IBF bantamweight champion took on mandatory challenger Michael Dasmarinas (30-3-1, 20 KOs) in Las Vegas on Saturday night, predictably installed as a heavy favorite. Just because he’s a heavy favorite doesn’t mean he isn’t a marvel to watch. It took him just three rounds to score three liver shot knockdowns and ultimately the TKO victory. I’m not going over the top when I say that just watching these knockdowns and hearing the sound of the punches thudding against Dasmarinas is enough to make one grimace. And the damage begins! @naoyainoue_410 goes after the liver, Dasmarinas goes to the canvas. Ouchhhh.#InoueDasmarinas | LIVE NOW on ESPN pic.twitter.com/9GKMbngcMM— Top Rank Boxing

Anderson Silva beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr by split decision in Mexico. | Photo by Quinn Rooney/Getty ImagesAnderson Silva surpassed expectations in his boxing return, defeating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr by split decision. In his return to the boxing ring, Anderson Silva (1-1, 1 KOs) surpassed expectations as he defeated former WBC middleweight titleholder Julio Cesar Chavez Jr (52–5–1 (1), 34 KOs) by split decision. Chavez Jr opened up the first round landing to the body of Silva. Midway through the round Chavez Jr landed a good left hook but Silva took it well. In the second, Silva was falling short on a lot of his punches as Chavez Jr was easily landing his jab. The third round was far more entertaining as the showmanship of Silva started to show.
