When Charles Johnson and Carlos Mota stepped into the LFA cage, they put on a fight for the ages. The LFA 122 main event Friday toed the line between a high-level, technical striking match and an all-out-wild brawl. Johnson (11-2) finished Mota (6-1) with punches at 0:45 of Round 5 to retain the LFA flyweight championship. Both fighters had their moments in the bout, with the first four rounds closely contested. Moreno Inspired By Jordan Heading Into UFC 270

Source: MMA Mania
Date: 2022-01-22

Photo by Chris Unger/Zuffa LLCBrandon Moreno may have never followed Michael Jordan’s basketball career, but the UFC flyweight champion is drawing a ton of inspiration from MJ heading into his trilogy bout with Deiveson Figueiredo tomorrow night (Sat., Jan. 22, 2022) at UFC 270 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Saturday’s trilogy fight will be a massive opportunity for Moreno to not only put the finishing touches on his rivalry with Figueiredo, but also to put his stamp on the flyweight division. Moreno is an extremely likeable fighter who never quits inside of the cage, which is one of the reasons why he is so beloved. Retaining his flyweight title this weekend will only increase his stock heading into a long 2022. That said, Figueiredo looked like a perennial champion before his two encounters with Moreno so it’s going to take everything Moreno has to defeat the Brazilian once more. While becoming champion can sometimes make a fighter content

The main event was cordial with former training partners Ngannou and Gane bumping fists following their faceoff. While the main event stare-down was intense, the co-main event showed the most volatility. One day after a trash talk-filled news conference, Figueiredo gave Moreno the middle finger during their faceoff as UFC president Dana White kept the two flyweights apart. Main card welterweight Michel Pereira (26-11 MMA, 4-2 UFC) brought the energy as always, when he hit a signature backflip on the weigh-in stage. Saturday, he fights promotional newcomer and Bel
